We restore existing doors and windows to correct working order – uPVC, composite, aluminium, bifold, sliding and casement systems. The goal is repair and precise adjustment, not unnecessary replacement.
- Doors or windows that don’t close, don’t lock, or scrape the frame
- Dropped composite and uPVC doors, twisted frames, stiff mechanisms
- Bifold and sliding doors that no longer run smoothly on their rollers
- Windows with failed gearboxes, hinges or jammed handles
A clear photo of the door or window (hinges and lock edge) helps us identify the system and estimate the repair before visiting.
Door Repair & Realignment
We repair composite, uPVC, bifold, sliding, patio, wooden and fire doors. Most faulty doors can be restored by correcting geometry and replacing worn components rather than fitting a new door set.
Composite & uPVC Entrance Doors
Over time the door leaf drops: the top corner rubs, the bottom catches the threshold, seals wear through, and hooks or rollers stop lining up with their keeps. The gearbox runs under constant load until it cracks or fails.
Our typical repair includes hinge realignment or replacement, fitting a new gearbox or full locking strip where required, setting correct compression, and replacing handles or cylinders if worn.
Important: cracked or fatigued uPVC hinges can let the door drop or detach. A sagging door should be corrected early – it is safer and much cheaper than waiting for hinge failure.
Bifold, Sliding & Patio Doors
Bifold and sliding systems put a lot of weight on small precision rollers and pivots. A single panel can weigh 40–60 kg, so each roller set often carries close to 100 kg. Alignment is done in millimetres, not centimetres.
We replace worn rollers, service tracks, realign panels and frames, replace damaged seals, set shootbolts, and verify smooth, level travel along the full opening.
DIY adjustment is strongly discouraged: over-tightening or using the wrong tool can strip bolts or carriers. That turns a simple setup into a full roller/hinge replacement.
Window Repair & Adjustment
We repair tilt-and-turn and standard casement windows in uPVC and aluminium – without replacing frames. Most problems come from worn gearboxes, corroded mechanisms or tired friction hinges.
Diagnostics & Typical Faults
- Handle turns but nothing happens – gearbox or corner drive failure
- Window will not close fully; visible gap between sash and frame
- Jammed tilt position or sash stuck open in bathrooms or kitchens
- Loose/spinning handles, rusted locking points, stiff operation
Service Actions
- Replacement of espagnolette mechanisms and gearboxes
- New friction hinges with correct stack height and length
- Realignment and compression adjustment on keeps and cams
- Replacement of misted or cracked double-glazed units
Upper-floor windows are repaired using proper support tools and safe methods. A detached sash can fall and cause serious damage or injury – we do not recommend DIY hinge or mechanism replacement.
Tilt-and-Turn Systems
We service tilt-and-turn windows and balcony doors – the type that tilts in at the top for ventilation, then fully swings inward when the handle is turned further.
Typical faults:
- Broken corner drives or gearbox failure
- Handles that no longer engage internal movement
- Sash stuck in tilt position and will not close
- Misaligned cams, poor sealing and draughts
All parts can be replaced without changing the frame. We stock compatible drives and gearboxes for Siegenia, Roto, Maco, GU, Winkhaus and other common systems.
